Hemant's contribution towards inclusive infrastructure development in India has been nonpareil. He is a visionary who always believes in offering simple solutions to complex problems. Many of his ideas were first of its kind and created new business sectors.
Hemant is a Trustee of Kanoria Foundation, which under its umbrella has entities with a total asset base of USD 12 billion (around Rs 84,000 crore). The group is at the vanguard of thought leadership in the country, especially in the area of infrastructure development and financing. Kanoria Foundation has been investing in business enterprises and with its harvest, has been engaging in many social impact initiatives.
Hemant is the Chairman of Srei, which started its operations in 1989. The initiative marked the entry of private sector in the field of infrastructure, a domain hitherto restricted to public sector. Over the last three decades, Srei has developed into one of India's largest holistic infrastructure institutions with USD 7 billion (around Rs 50,000 crore) of consolidated assets under management.
In 1992, Srei launched its initial public offering (IPO) and was listed on all major stock exchanges. Five years later, foreign development finance institutions such as IFC, FMO and DEG came on board as strategic equity partners. In 2005, Srei became one of the first Indian non-banking finance institutions (NBFIs) to get listed on the London Stock Exchange. Today, Srei is one of India's leading Public Finance Institutions.
Hemant is known for unleashing a new wave of rural entrepreneurship in India. A unique business model was created to bridge the urban-rural digital divide and make services like e-governance, e-commerce and e-learning accessible to millions in remote geographies.
The initiative has opened up revenue opportunities for thousands of village level entrepreneurs (VLEs) who are providing these services through IT-enabled common service centres across India.
Hemant is also the Chairman of India Power Corporation Limited, previously known as DPSC Limited. Under his guidance and leadership India Power has become one of the leading integrated power utilities in the country. The company has a diversified portfolio, with renewable and conventional modes of power generation, distribution and power trading.
Hemant has over three decades of experience. He is currently serving as Board Member in the Indian Institute of Information Technology (Guwahati), Neotia University and New Delhi Institute of Management. He is a Member of the India-Russia CEOs Council and India-Singapore CEOs Forum. He is also a member of the ICC G20 Advisory Council. Hemant is a Member of the Advisory Committee of Indian Institute of Cerebral Palsy and also a Member of Council of Advisors of Friends of Kolkata.
He has held several prestigious positions like President of Calcutta Chamber of Commerce, Chairman of the FICCI National Committee on Infrastructure and also served on the Board of Governors of Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta (IIM-C). He has also been a Member of Regional Direct Taxes Advisory Committee, Government of India and a Member of ICC Executive Committee.
The teachings of Swami Vivekananda have had a profound impact on him from a very early age and have been instrumental in shaping his values and principles. His personal and work lives reflect a unique blend of humility, honesty, patience, discipline and innovative thinking.
Rakesh Kumar Bhutoria is an Engineering graduate from London School of Economics and Political Science, and a Management graduate from the University of Oxford – SAID Business School. He has also served as an Independent Director on the Board of Banyan Tree Bank Limited, Mauritius and chaired a Key Board committees over a 3 year tenure.
With around 25 years’ experience across the financial sector as a senior banker, he has in-depth experience in building teams / businesses across India & Middle East. His career began with ICI India Limited and prior to joining Srei, Mr. Bhutoria was the Group EVP & Head – Commercial Banking & Strategic Initiatives at IDFC Bank, where he was instrumental in building a profitable commercial banking franchise with an all India presence. Mr. Bhutoria has led large corporates, mid-caps, MNC, SME, CV & ECM businesses. Mr. Bhutoria has actively led bank-wide initiatives as a Steering Committee Member in the run up to the launch of Banking Operations at IDFC Bank. Earlier, he spent 14 years as Managing Director with Standard Chartered Bank covering corporate banking and corporate finance functions in India and the Middle East.
Mr. Bhutoria has also been a jury member, panelist and speaker at various forums in India and abroad.
Mr. Sandeep Kumar Sultania, Chief Financial Officer
Sandeep Kumar Sultania is a Chartered Accountant, Company Secretary, Cost & Management Accountant and Master in Business Finance (MBF) by qualification. Apart from holding a Master’s degree in commerce, he also holds a Diploma in Information and System Audit (DISA). Mr. Sultania started his career with Ideal Financing Corporation Ltd. and prior to joining the Company, he was the Chief Financial Officer of BKM Industries Limited (formerly Manaksia Industries Limited) where he headed the profit centre operations and was responsible for designing effective plans & strategies to achieve business objectives and ensure growth in top line and bottom line profitability.
With over two decades of rich experience in the field of Financial Management, Auditing, Taxation, Budgeting and MIS, he was also responsible for liaising and negotiating with Banks & Financial Institutions for raising fund and non-fund based facilities for meeting working capital and project requirements. Mr. Sultania was also the team leader for the SAP implementation Project.
Mr. Sandeep Lakhotia, Company Secretary & Group Head
Sandeep is presently leading the Corporate Secretarial Team at Srei, in charge of the corporate compliance and governance function, with over 20 years of experience. He is a Xaverian alumnus and is a fellow member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India and the Institute of Company Secretaries of India.
Shashi manages the Foreign Currency exposure of Srei, external commercial borrowings, liaising with international institutions, banks, and regulatory authorities both in India and abroad.
In addition to his role at Srei, he is also an associate of the Indian Institute of Bankers. He is a Bachelor of Science and LLB, and holds a Diploma in Business Management.
Prior to joining Srei, he was associated with PNB and IDBI Banks.

Sunil conceptualised Quippo. Be it launching the country's largest infrastructure equipment rental company or catering to the high growth verticals such as construction, telecom, energy and oil & gas, under his guidance Quippo has become the leader in equipment rental industry. He envisioned and laid the foundations of independent telecom infrastructure industry in India under the aegis of Quippo Telecom more than a decade ago.
Sunil championed the cause of multi operator shared tower ("MOST") policy, which changed the Indian telecom tower landscape. He formed a joint venture with Tata Teleservices to form Viom Networks, which is now India's largest telecom tower company with over 42,000 towers. Recently, American Tower Corporation has acquired Srei's stake in Viom in one of the largest Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) deals in India's telecom sector.
Under Sunil's guidance, Srei Equipment Finance Limited has emerged as India's number one infrastructure equipment financier with over 32% market share.
Today Sunil is one of the most respected business thought leaders, especially in the area of infrastructure development and financing. He was entrusted with the honour of leading ASSOCHAM, India's oldest and leading chamber of commerce, as President.
Sunil is the Honorary Consul of Spain in Kolkata. He has also been nominated as a Member of the India-Malaysia CEOs Forum. Sunil is nominated by the Government of India as a Member of the India-Korea CEOs Forum. He is a former Member of the Governing Council of India International Chamber of Commerce. He is also the former Governing Body Member of Construction Industry Development Council and former Governing board member of the EU Chamber of Commerce. Sunil has served as Member of the Construction Sector in the 10th Five Year Plan of the Planning Commission of the Government of India. He is a Council Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, nominated by the Government of India. Sunil is also a Member of Board of Director of North Eastern India-ASEAN Chamber of Commerce and Industry. He is also a member of the Woman Entrepreneurship Platform (WEP) of NITI Aayog.
Apart from being a seasoned business leader, Sunil along with his wife is actively engaged in various philanthropic activities in the area of child education and women empowerment under the brand Suryodaya.

Devendra Kumar Vyas, has been associated with Srei since 1997. He is an associate member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (“ICAI”). He has over two decades of experience in the financial services sector. He is the Chairman of the ASSOCHAM National Council on Construction Equipment & Tunnelling. Further, he is also a member of the Governing Council of Indian Construction Equipment Manufacturers’ Association, a life member of the Association of Corporate Advisors and Executives, Kolkata, and also a member of PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Pavan Trivedi, has been associated with our Company since 2016. He is a member of ICAI and an associate member of the Institute of Cost Accountants of India. He has over 20 years of experience in finance functions across organisations such as Usha Martin Limited, Tata Motors Finance Limited and Reliance Communications Limited.
Indranil Sengupta has been associated with our Company since 2014. He holds a bachelor’s degree in commerce from the University of Calcutta and is a certified associate of the Indian Institute of Bankers. He has over 33 years of experience in the banking and financial services sectors. In the past, he has worked in various capacities with the State Bank of India and BNP Paribas.
Mr. Manoj Kumar Beriwala began his career with the Group in 1996 and has over two decades of experience in the finance sector. He holds a bachelor’s degree in commerce from the University of Calcutta and is a fellow member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. He began his career with the Group and has over two decades of experience in the finance sector.
Amit Dang has Corporate experience of more than 25 years. He is a fellow member of the Institute of Cost Accountants of India (FCMA) and has worked in leadership roles with HSBC Banking Group, GE Capital, IDBI Bank, Edelweiss Financial Services Group and Aditya Birla Group.
