Sahaj e-Village Limited

Sahaj e-Village Limited, a Srei Initiative, is aimed at bridging the digital divide between urban and rural India. As a part of the National e-Governance Plan (NeGP) of the Government of India, 100,000 Common Service Centres (CSC) were to be set up across the rural sector of India in the year 2006 which was further revised to 2,50,000 CSCs in 2009.

Sahaj has set up one of the largest brick and mortar as well as human networks in rural India. We have over 27,000 IT backed centers in sub 10,000 population villages. They offer more than 50 critical services in the domain of micro-insurance, education, utility and G2C services to over 30 Crore rural population. It is a vehicle meant to take services that an urban citizen has access to, to the remotest nooks of the hitherto ignored rural India.

The Sahaj CSCs provide the rural consumers, direct access to modern state-of-art technological facilities. These centres offer a comprehensive range of G2C and B2C services to the most marginalised communities of India, thereby bringing about great transformation in these traditionally deprived regions. Moreover, apart from the convenience of a one-stop internet connected store next door, it dovetails into the program, larger aspects like livelihood creation, and computer education, to name a few.

Sahaj has always been committed towards long term interventions in rural India and aspires to do this by nurturing and developing the sense of entrepreneurship among common citizens.
